YYZ on Vdrums, SPD-S by a Neal Peart Wannabe

This is my version of YYZ by the Canadian power trio, Rush. While I did not stay true to the original, my hope is that the viewer sees that I tried to veer off the path just enough to express a Peart-influenced originality. I hope the viewer does not take my departure as disrespectful as my attempt was not to merely mimic the Professor but to draw on his influence in the percussive arts and apply it to my own work. In case it wasn't obvious, my kids did not actually play on this recording. I needed something to break the monotony of staring at my ugly mug. Also, I needed something to fill in the bass solo breaks. Being that I'm not much of a stick twirler and the ceiling was too low for a good stick toss, the boys had to step up to the plate. Hope they made you laugh like I did. Technical: Roland Vdrums, TD-10 brain with a TD-7 connected via MIDI for extra inputs. Roland triggers: 5 toms, 1 snare, 2 kicks, 3 crash, 1 ride, 1 HH, 2 PD-7, 1 PD-9. I have a Pentech splash and a Visu-Lite china. The Roland SPD-S was used to trigger all sounds and music that was broken in to chunks and triggered in real time. The audio was recorded on a Boss BR-8. Cameras used: Kodak Zi8 HD, Nikon D90 DSLR in video mode, Canon ZR500, Nikon Coolpix and the overhead shot was done on an iPhone 4. You will note the resolution mis-matches from all the various cameras. Thanks for watching SDG

A Fire To Burn My Bridges By

This film features a fire I started while living in the Meadville, PA area in 2005. This would be my last night living here after attempting to be part of a ministry that did not go as planned. This fire for me was symbollic of a necessary purging of several things I no longer needed to have in my life. Nathan Ford is also seen in the video as we watched the flames devour its fuel. Due to apparent copyright issues, the second song starting at 4:54 is played in reverse. Filmed & edited by Joel A. Swanson This is footage shot on an analog Panasonic VHS video camera from 2004. It was my first experience playing with a camera. All footage transferred digitally (and distorted to a widescreen 16:9 presentation whilst it was originally filmed in standard 4:3) through an Element full HDTV and recorded with my Canon ZR500 then edited with iMovie and Final Cut Express for your viewing pleasure. PLEASE DO NOT JUDGE MY FILM MAKING SKILLS BASED ON THIS SERIES OF VIDEOS!

The Cliché Song by Christopher Mast

LYRICS: The sharper is the berry, the sweeter is the wine Behind the clouds, the sun is shining It could be worse. It will be worse Feeling bad is just a new sensation Tomorrow is another day, I will survive Midnight is where the day begins Every stormy cloud has got to have a silver lining After the rain comes a rainbow -chorus- This too, shall pass What doesn't kill me makes me strong Life's a bitch so it's said It's always darkest before the dawn The more things change, the more they stay the same All good things come to those that wait Give space to time, and time will fill space Time will tell. Wisdom is not truth -chorus- This too, shall pass What doesn't kill me makes me strong Life's a bitch so it's said It's always darkest before the dawn The thing about clichés Is that you hear them every day In your head and out again Wisdom that's been overspent There is no comfort in the truth Life goes on The sharper is the berry, the sweeter is the wine Behind the clouds, the sun is shining It could be worse. It will be worse Feeling bad is just a new sensation Tomorrow is another day, I will survive Midnight is where the day begins Every stormy cloud has got to have a silver lining After the rain comes a rainbow -chorus- This too, shall pass What doesn't kill me makes me strong Life's a bitch so it's said It's always darkest before the dawn The thing about clichés Is that you hear them every day In your head and out again Wisdom that's been overspent There is no comfort in ...

Canon Zr500 - Why it Stands Out

!±8± Canon Zr500 - Why it Stands Out

The canon zr500 is a mini DV camcorder with 25x optical zoom. It is highly desirable bit of kit and would make a perfect gift for anyone looking for a camcorder. It has true widescreen recording and the 25x optical zoom on the canon zr500 is extremely powerful.

The canon zr500 has a clear and sharp 2.7 inch widescreen LCD which is fantastic for playing back your videos and showing your friends. The color and clarity of the video is exceptional due to the digic DV image processor. One of the best features of the Canon zr500 mini Dv camcorder is the zoom control. This control is remarkably smooth preventing annoying jerkiness when zooming in and out.

At a compact size of 4.5 x 1.9 x 3.6 and weighing only 2lbs, this lightweight camcorder can be taken where ever you go ready to capture that perfect moment.

The canon zr500 has a multitude of extras including a useful button which allows you to switch from the standard 4:3 to 16:9 widescreen HR. Whether or not you are standing at the back of a crowd or right at the front, the canon zr500 800x digital zoom and 25x optical lens allows you to always have the perfect shot for any occasion.

Another good feature is the auto exposure mode. Here you can select from a variety of scene or exposure modes to create the best results possible in any situation or difficult lighting environments. You can choose from beach, sunset, fireworks, night, sports, snow, portrait and many more making the Canon zr500 perfect in any conditions.

The Canon zr500 also has the added bonus of having a firewire or iLink allowing you to share your videos with extreme ease. The firewire allows you to connect your camcorder to your computers DV terminal with virtually no loss of audio or video quality. Transferring your videos to your computer not only allows you to view your footage on your pc, but it also allows you to back up your special moments somewhere safe.

The Canon zr500 is a great little camera for someone that wants something small and compact. It suits both amateurs and more experienced camcorder users. This is because it not only offers a wide amount of pre set settings for a newbie it hosts a multitude of adjustable settings should you wish to manually configure your own conditions.

If you already own a high-tech camcorder and feel the canon zr500 is a step backwards you couldn't be more wrong. This camcorder is a fantastic back-up to an expensive alternative as it is small, affordable and you can still receive perfect results. It's simply great to throw in your pocket for a trip away where you maybe concerned about damaging a more costly camera.
